My days in Costa Caleta or Caleta de Fuste & El Castillo as it’s also known; is a town I have called home for more than 4 years now. And its somewhere very special indeed I love the pace of life here, the costs of living, and the standard of living.

It has rained for more than twenty-four hours, which hasn’t happened in over a year, and it was at least a year before that when it happened last.

I don’t mind it, but I have to say when I hear ex pats, who moan about missing the seasons, whats to miss?

The sleet, the snow, the cold and the rain, and yes, the occasional sunny spell. Which seem to me (as I have UK TV), to be in a decreasingly short supply indeed.

But enough of all that moaning; you should visit Fuerteventura and Caleta de Fuste in particular. Its a quiet place, and one where you can have lots of fun one day, and a quiet peaceful day, the next.

There are loads of bars and restaurants, trips and excursions, sightseeing opportunities, as well as great hiking and cycling routes.

The look of Fuerteventura is a little strange, but someone once said, “it’s strangely beautiful”, and I have stolen that for my own ever since. I would love to give this phrase a home, but I dunno where I got it. Some describe it as the moons surface, but it has mountains, protected nature areas, indigenous wildlife, and a great culture.
